The August 2015 edition of Asimov’s Science Fiction is now available; this issue includes my story “Caisson,” which is my third sale to Asimov’s.
This story is arguably more fantasy than science fiction, as its single speculative notion is plainly impossible. But the setting of the story — the underwater caissons used to construct the foundations of the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge — is quite science-fictional, despite being a very real thing that was done in the 19th century with 19th century technology.
This story is distinctly upbeat, which will perhaps earn it some appreciation from those who lament that SF these days tends to be too gloomy.
