The erratically-published Stupefying Stories has released issue #18, with my piece as its cover story. I think the cover illustration is quite nice, and it suits my story well. It’s available as a Kindle ebook here.
The writing of this story is rather different from my usual style*, and it also departs from my usual fare by being somewhat (allegedly) humorous.
It’s also old. I wrote it in 2011, and due to being trapped in a couple of the publishing world’s versions of limbo, it’s just seeing the light of day now. Luckily it’s set in the distant future, so I didn’t have to worry about it being out of date before it was published.
This old story will be my last “new” story for some unknown length of time. If anyone reading this happens to know of an easy cure for writer’s block, drop me a line.
* So if you hate this story, don’t let that stop you from reading everything else I’ve written.
