My story “They Have All One Breath” is appearing in three Year’s Best SF collections this year:
The Year's Best Science Fiction: Thirty Fourth Annual Collection
The Best Science Fiction of the Year: Volume Two
The Year's Top Ten Tales of Science Fiction 9
This is my fourth appearance in Gardner Dozois’ Year’s Best anthology, and my first for the other two. Neil Clarke’s The Best SF of the Year is in its second year of publication and seems to be earning respect in the field. Allan Kaster’s The Year’s Top Ten Tales of SF is primarily an audiobook, but is available in paper and eBook editions as well.
Looking back on “They Have All One Breath” about a year after I finished writing it (and several years after I started writing it), I still think it’s a good and interesting story, but it doesn’t have quite the warm spot in my heart that some of my other stories do. Maybe because writing it was so much hard work.
But hitting three “Year’s Bests” with one story is pretty cool, and I’m quite pleased about that.
Also in The Year’s Best #34, Mr. Dozois includes my story “The Battle of Ceres” in his “Honorable Mention” section.
